I was born and raised in Corpus Christi Texas. I have been fishing ever since I could walk. I remember fishing from the shore with my dad and every time a boat would go buy I would tell him “one day I’m going to become a pro fisherman, and I’ll get you a boat just like that one.” He would laugh and we would just keep on fishing. It wasn’t until he got a boat that I started to understand the sport.
I started fishing in kids tournaments when I was 6 years old. I didn’t win a single one. But that just made my love for fishing get even stronger. Fast forward a few years and now I’m in high school. My dad bought a shallow sport. Now we could run skinny, fishing for reds in water that we never thought was possible. I bought my own little boat so I could go venture out and find new fishing ground. I started to learn every drop off, grass bed, sand flat and rocks in the upper Laguna Madre.
I fished my first big tournament when I was 17. I caught the winning red fish 30 yards from the dock in my little boat. When i was 20 years old i caught a monster warsaw grouper 30 miles offshore using a snapper rod. It took an hour and a half to bring that fish up. It was a whopping 356 pounds and took up the hole boat it seemed like. Now I fish many tournaments a year. I am 25 years old. I am fishing with the best in the south. All of us fishermen have a strong bond that normal people just couldn’t understand. Now I love to teach the youth and anyone else that will listen to me about our waters and how to respect the habitats that God has created for us. My father and I still fish the shallow sport owners tournament every year. And even when we just fish I love just being out there with him. I have my own boat now so my children get to experience the same things I got to out on the water. It is a great honor to be apart of this great company. I mean when you meet this guy who tells you to load up on his rod and you think I don’t want to break it. Well you won’t I tried and it didn’t work at all I still have the scare to prove it. With my fishing show kicking off soon, myself and a few good friends will be teaching everyone the little things about the sport that some people over look to often. Cajun custom rods is by far the best rod I have ever put in my hands. And even when I’m not out on the water in my boat. My rod stays with me because working down on the docks you never know what might come out of the shadows.
